If you visit Resorts World Genting now, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a whole other land outside of Malaysia with world-class theme parks, a shopping mall with state-of-the-art attractions, and world-class dining establishments although it’s all still ensconced within a beautiful ancient rainforest.
RWG is also truly nostalgic for many Malaysians, who used to visit the premier integrated resort destination with their families, especially during school holidays. If you are a millennial or older, you’ll probably appreciate these lovely photos which bring back memories of the ‘old’ RWG.
Scroll through these images and step back in time:
This may unlock a core memory for you. Now, RWG boasts an international-standard Genting SkyWorlds outdoor theme park, but water attractions used to be a main focus at the previous outdoor theme park back in the day.
The lake in the middle is instantly recognisable. Riding the boat around it may be a cherished memory for you.
The First World Hotel remains as colourful as ever, but now there has been a third tower added.
The Battery Man from Energizer was another recognisable face at RWG.
The flying roller coaster, also dubbed the ‘Spiderman’ roller coaster which was red and blue was easily the ride which offered the most thrills.
Another look at the ‘Spiderman’ roller coaster.
A merry-go-round is a must at any theme park. The new version of this can now be found at the Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park.
You used to be able to race like an F1 driver at the outdoor track.
Remember the Solero Shot? Now, the new version is the Terraform Tower Challenge, an exhilarating ride that shoots up to the top of the tower and stops for a few minutes. It’s definitely one for adrenaline junkies!
This spinning ride was enough to make anyone go dizzy.
Even the kids could have a go at exploring the lake.
We loved this cute caterpillar monorail.
This hotel has now been given a facelift to become the Genting SkyWorlds Hotel, which is located at the doorstep of the current outdoor theme park.
Not many people may know about the Talking Garden located outside the Genting SkyWorlds Hotel, which is a romantic spot to stroll hand in hand with a loved one.
The indoor theme park and shopping mall were also a hubbub of activity.
This Reindeer Cruiser had us feeling like we came from the North Pole.
Now you can visit the Zombie Outbreak for a spine-chilling time but werewolves used to be the ones giving visitors tremendous scares.
The ceiling of the indoor theme park and mall used to be bright blue with clouds mirroring the outside sky.
Now you can watch movies at Bona Cinemas with IMAX or D-Box theatres, but there used to be the First World Cineplex.
The ‘Venice Gondola’ was a must-try for couples.
We hope that these photos brought back fond memories for you!
